Teacher Consultation

Teacher Consultation is one of the interventions in the Early Initiative for Children at Risk prevention programme. The intervention is based on the principles in the Parent Management Training – Oregon (PMTO) treatment method and the school wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support model  (SWPBIS)

Who is the service for?

Teacher Consultation is offered to employees in kindergarten and school who work with children between the age of three and 12 years who have developed or are at risk of developing behavioral problems.

What is the aim with consultation?

The aim with consultation is to give the employees in kindergarten, school and before- and after- school care guidance in using specific tools and strategies that can prevent and reduce behavioral problems in groups/classes. Challenging behavior must be reduced and positive development/progress must be encouraged.

How do we work?

  •  Weekly guidance to school/kindergarten personnel given by a consultant
  •  6-8 consultations
  •  It will be given guidance to the individual child and to the whole group/class based on their needs
  •  School/kindergarten personnel receive training in constructive ways of interacting with the child/children.
  •  Active practising of alternative ways of interacting with and handling the child/children.
